‘Star Wars: Tales of the Empire’ drops dramatic trailer and release date

Dive deeper into the stories of Morgan Elsbeth and Barriss Offee in Star Wars: Tales of the Empire launching May 4, 2024.

The new trailer for the upcoming Star Wars: Tales of the Empire recently dropped. It is the second installment to the Tales animated series and the follow up to Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, which was released in October of 2022. Much like its predecessor, it tells the journeys of two known characters from the Star Wars Universe.

This time around we delve into Morgan Elsbeth, the former Imperial Magistrate and underling of Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Barriss Offee, a Jedi Padawan who turned her back on the Order. We learn how both join the Galactic Empire, with Offee’s path of particular interest since it seems she becomes an Inquisitor, the force sensitive hunters of Jedi survivors. Check out the official description below:

“Star Wars: Tales of the Empire” is a six-episode journey into the fearsome Galactic Empire through the eyes of two warriors on divergent paths, set during different eras. After losing everything, young Morgan Elsbeth navigates the expanding Imperial world toward a path of vengeance, while former Jedi Barriss Offee does what she must to survive a rapidly changing galaxy. The choices they make will define their destinies.

Both Elsbeth and Offee might not be as well known as Tales of the Jedi featured characters Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku, but that doesn’t make their stories less compelling. It looks like we’ll learn more of Elsbeth’s Nightsister background and she goes head to head with General Grievous. Then for Offee, who doesn’t want to gain insight on the Inquisitor training process.

Many actors return to reprise their roles. They include Diana Lee Inosanto (Morgan Elsbeth), Meredith Salenger (Barriss Offee), Rya Kihlstedt (Lyn aka Fourth Sister), Wing T. Chao (Wing), Lars Mikkelsen (Thrawn), Jason Isaacs (Grand Inquisitor) and Matthew Wood (General Grievous).

Star Wars: Tales of the Empire is created by Dave Filoni who also is the supervising director. The executive producers include Filoni, Athena Yvette Portillo, and Carrie Beck. Josh Rimes serves as co-executive producer and Alex Spotswood is the senior producer.

All six episodes of Star Wars: Tales of the Empire launch, appropriately enough, May 4, 2024 on Disney+.
