New ‘The Acolyte’ trailer: A dangerous threat hunts Jedi

The Acolyte drops a new trailer on May the Fourth.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch might have just ended this week, but fans won’t have to wait long for the next series from the franchise. Premiering June 4 is The Acolyte. Fittingly on this May the Fourth, Disney+ released a new trailer and key art for its upcoming show.

For those unfamiliar with the plot, the official synopsis is:

In “The Acolyte,” an investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg). As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems….

If that isn’t enough to get you interested, the trailer includes new footage and brings additional insight on the series. That closing scene teases a mysterious Sith. Check it out below.

The Acolyte stars Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss.

It is created by Leslye Headland who serves as an executive producer with Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King and Jason Micallef. Charmaine DeGraté and Kor Adana are co-executive producers while Rayne Roberts, Damian Anderson, Eileen Shim and Rob Bredow are producers.

The show boasts a number of talented people behind the camera. Headland directs the premiere episodes (Eps. 101 & 102) with Kogonada (Eps. 103 & 107), Alex Garcia Lopez (Eps. 104 & 105) and Hanelle Culpepper (Eps. 106 & 108) also taking on directing duties. To help create the psychological thriller atmosphere, award winning composer Michael Abels scores the series. He is best known for his work on the films Get Out and Us.
