New video games worth playing for the week of 5/6/24

Spring has sprung, and with it promises indie darlings and Triple A hits releasing week after week. This year has a lot to live up to compared to 2023’s best releases, but it’s off to a strong start so far.

Let’s check out what video games are hitting storefronts this week.

V Rising (5/8)

Platforms: PC

After being in early access for two years, V Rising launches in full on PC this week. It’s an open world RPG that blends exciting action with survival gameplay. You’ll start as a weakened vampire, hiding from the sunlight, and strengthen yourself on the blood of humans. As you grow more powerful, you’ll raise a castle, turn humans in servants, and build a vampire empire. A PlayStation 5 release is expected later this year.

Gift (5/8)

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, and Switch

Gift is a puzzle adventure game with a fun art style. You’ll wake up on a sinking luxury cruise ship and encounter characters for whom you feel nostalgic for, but you can’t quite place why. Your goal? Navigate the changing levels, solve puzzles, and construct a way out.

Little Kitty, Big City (5/9)

Platforms: PC, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S

As you know, cats make great video game protagonistsLittle Kitty, Big City is the latest adventure starring a feline friend. You’ll play as an adorable kitty searching for its way home in this whimsical adventure. Make friends, cause cat chaos, and wear all the cat hats you’ve ever wanted.
