DC Comics gave fans new details on upcoming series at SDCC 2024 today (Room 6de), which included their Absolute line of comics. After surprising fans with the new series Justice League Unlimited, Scott Snyder revealed new details on his Absolute Batman series with Nick Dragotta.
A lot of what we learned is just how huge Batman is, as well as his new role not as a billionaire but as a regular Joe. Oh, and he’s huge. Snyder said this was a “Top-to-bottom reinvention” of Batman. Plus, Alfred will be a POV character. That’s compelling since that means he’ll likely be observing Batman from afar.
Black Mask was also revealed as one of his main nemesis out of the gate. Likely more rogues will be added as the series goes on.
Check out designs by Dragotta below for even more info. They include the fact that Batman is in his 20s, is seven feet tall, weighs 250 pounds, and is a city engineer. He also appears to own a French bulldog. Awww.
It’s also revealed Alfred is an “Old guard of empire,” whatever that means. He was also an MI-6 spy and goes by the name “Penny.”
