Earlier this spring, Scott Koblish dazzled X-Men and comics fans alike with an awesome interconnecting cover featuring every X-Men character in existence. Now, you can own the original art thanks to Heritage Auction’s ongoing auction. The current bid is $15,500, and there are eight days to go as of the posting of this article.
The covers graced four issues, starting with June’s X-MEN #35, the 700th issue of Uncanny X-Men. Three more were used in the From the Ashes flagship era—Jed MacKay and Ryan Stegman’s X-MEN #1, Gail Simone and David Marquez’s UNCANNY X-MEN #1, and Eve L. Ewing and Carmen Carnero’s EXCEPTIONAL X-MEN #1. The artwork showcases every generation of X-Men, from the original five to the Giant-Size team, the New Mutants, and all the quintessential spin-offs like X-Factor, X-Force, Excalibur, Generation X, Age of Apocalypse-even the X-Babies! Villains range from the iconic Magneto, Sentinels, and Mr. Sinister to cult favorites like the Goblin Queen, Onslaught, and Cassandra Nova. Allies such as the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Carol Danvers (as both Ms. Marvel and Binary), the Starjammers, and Alpha Flight also make appearances.
The art is ink over graphite on four 24″ x 17″ Bristol boards with a combined image area of 96″ x 17″, with graphite smudging and light handling wear. Signed by Koblish at the bottom right of each board and in Excellent condition.
