Our latest Channel Surfing TV picks will cater to all those pop culture enthusiasts out there.

Our latest Channel Surfing TV picks will cater to all those pop culture enthusiasts out there. Prepare for the next Star Wars series, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. A popular trivia game show gets a new twist with Pop Culture Jeopardy. Then, the first chapter of the all-new cinematic DC Universe, “Gods and Monsters” begins with Creature Commandos

Space Goonies

With the most recent Spider-Man trilogy of films, Jon Watts and Christopher Ford proved that they could manage a big tentpole associated with a huge franchise, and create a compelling coming of age story. The pair are going to the same well but using a different property with Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

The story centers on four young kids who make an interesting discovery on their usually boring, suburban-esque planet. They soon find themselves lost in the galaxy. Their journey back home looks to involve treasure hunting, pirates, and a whole lot of adventure.

The first two episodes of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew launch today, December 2, on Disney+.

I’ll Take Huge Fun for $1000

Prime Video is assembling a slate of gameshows to air with what they call, “Winning Wednesdays.” Programming includes Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, Buy It Now, and Amazon Wish List Games. The line-up continues to grow with the addition of Pop Culture Jeopardy

The series is hosted by Colin Jost, and it will have a different twist to the show we’re familiar with. Not only will the categories focus on pop culture, but the show will involve teams of three rather than single contestants. The competition is tournament style with a grand prize of $300,000.

The three-episode series premiere of Pop Culture Jeopardy debuts Wednesday, December 4, on Prime Video.

Task Force M for Monster

The cinematic side of DC Comics is receiving a soft reboot with the introduction of the DCU. The era will be ushered in by the universe’s co-creator and co-CEO of DC Studios, James Gunn. Creature Commandos will contain elements from the previous DC Extended Universe, but will forge its own path moving forward.

The adult animated series features a modern take on the comic team that fought in World War II. Like before, this group is composed mostly of monsters because following the first season of Peacemaker, Amanda Waller is no longer allowed to use humans for her black ops missions. Think of them as a non-human Suicide Squad.

The first two episodes of Creature Commandos drop Thursday. December 5, on Max.
