Cassian Andor first appeared in the Star Wars Universe in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. He was an intelligence officer and member of the Rebel unit in charge of stealing the plans for the Death Star. We might already know his fate, but his prequel series provides insight into his transformation from “cynical nobody into a rebel hero on his way to an epic destiny.”
The second season of Andor is set to begin this April 22. Today, Disney+ released a teaser trailer giving us our first glimpse into the upcoming episodes. The new season sees war on the horizon and the titular protagonist becomes a major player in the Rebel Alliance. Take a look at the teaser below.
Series creator and executive producer, Tony Gilroy, said, “One of the great thrills of making Andor is the scale of the story and the number of characters we’re able to meet — ordinary people, Imperial overlords, passionate revolutionaries. They are real people making epic decisions, all of them staring down questions with terrifying consequences. Cassian’s journey is the soul and spine of our story, but it’s the choir that makes the show. I’m so excited for audiences to see where we go in season two.”
Much of the main cast returns for the new season including Diego Luna, Stellan Skarsgård, Genevieve O’Reilly, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, Adria Arjona, Faye Marsay, Varada Sethu, and Elizabeth Dulau. There are even more connections to Rogue One with more Forest Whitaker, and Alan Tudyk and Ben Mendelsohn set to star as well.
The second and final season will be composed of four chapters comprised of three episodes each. The first chapter premieres April 22 with subsequent chapters releasing weekly. The writers of the episodes are as follows: Gilroy eps. 1-3, Beau Willimon eps. 4-6, Dan Gilroy eps. 7-9, and Tom Bisell eps. 10-12. The directors are: Ariel Kleiman eps. 1-6, Janus Metz eps. 7-9, and Alonso Ruizpalacios eps. 10-12.
Andor season two premieres April 22 on Disney+.
