This week’s Channel Surfing TV picks have plenty of mystery, action, and comedy. A classic literary character receives a twist in Sherlock & Daughter. The Leverage: Redemption crew continue their war on rich and powerful criminals. Then, The Rehearsal returns for an all new season.
A Watson Replacement
Has there been any literary character to receive more adaptations than Sherlock Holmes? There’s something about the world’s greatest detective that people find captivating. Whether it’s a version from the Victorian Age or a modern day retelling, you find him popping up throughout the years.
The latest television series to tackle the icon is Sherlock & Daughter. As the name implies, the detective might have some family. A young American named Amelia travels to London to track down Detective Holmes after her mother is mysteriously murdered. She is taken under Sherlocks wing as the pair work together to solve a global conspiracy, her mother’s murder, and if they are truly related.
Sherlock & Daughter premieres Wednesday, April 16, on the CW.
Heisting for Good
The hit series Leverage: Redemption aired its first two seasons on Freevee. When it returns later this week, the revival will have a new home on Prime Video. Despite the different streaming platform, you can expect the team helping the little guy by taking down the corrupt.
This season the crew will tackle the scum of the scum including power brokers who steal clean water from the people, a crooked mayor, extortionists, child labor loving industrialists and more. At the same time, they must sort out their new personal relationships and evade an enemy from their past looking for revenge.
The first three episodes from Leverage: Redemption season three release Thursday, April 17, on Prime Video.
Trying to Save Lives
The Rehearsal is a comedy series that blurs the line of fiction and reality. Creator Nathan Fielder wants to help people prepare for difficult conversations by using lavish sets and actors to mimic the real life situations. In the upcoming season, he takes it to another level.
This time around, Fielder wants to cover a situation that affects millions of people. He wants to help prevent aviation disasters using his rehearsal method. There will be plenty of awkwardness as well as people questioning Fielder’s motivations.
The Rehearsal season two begins Sunday, April 20, on HBO.
