We have a pair of returning science fiction series and an action film for our Channel Surfing TV picks of the week. Continue the origin story of a rebel hero in Andor. The odds are stacked against a hardened detective in Havoc. Then, return to the imaginative and thrilling world created by Tony DiTerlizzi in WondLa.
Leading the Revolution
When we first met Cassian Andor in Rogue One, he was a Rebel Alliance intelligence officer that helped steal the Death Star plans. His prequel series sheds light on his past and the events that shaped the courageous character we saw in the film.
The first season showed how he turned from a jaded thief into a firm detractor of the Galactic Empire. In season two, we see his rise into a key player and leader in the Alliance. Filled with political intrigue, betrayals, sacrifices, and more, the series is a can’t miss.
The first three episodes of Andor season two release Tuesday, April 22, on Disney+.
A Drug Deal Gone Bad
Gareth Evans creates some of the most intense, brutal, adrenaline filled action sequences in entertainment. He is the man behind The Raid films as well as Gangs of London. His latest project is the Tom Hardy starring Havoc.
The movie follows a detective named Walker (Hardy) tasked with rescuing a politician’s estranged son. What makes matters worse is that the son is the prime suspect in a violent drug deal gone awry. Walker must fight his way through the entire criminal underworld to get his target into safety.
Havoc premieres Friday, April 25, on Netflix.
Finding Your People
Eva 9 spent most of the first season of WondLa trying to survive on the planet Orbona while searching for other humans. On her journey, she found a family comprised of the aliens Otto and Rovender Kitt.
When the series returns, Eva 9 will learn that she isn’t the last remaining human. However, not everything is as it seems. She doesn’t quite fit in at her new home, and its leaders have drastic plans to ensure the survival of the human race.
The entire second season of WondLa drops Friday, April 25, on Apple TV+.
