Courtesy of Ghost Machine, AIPT can share a preview of Sisterhood: A Hyde Street Story #1, out July 2nd. Sisterhood: A Hyde Street Story is a new five-issue series reuniting Ghost Machine writer Maytal Zchut and artist Leila Leiz.
The It Happened on Hyde Street: Devour collaborators will explore themes of extreme co-dependence and revenge in a tale revolving around two life-long friends whose relationship radically changes when one accidentally drowns during a sorority hazing incident… But on Hyde Street, death takes on a terrifying new meaning.
“For readers who love Hyde Street, Sisterhood takes us on the journey of another victim who stumbles upon this dangerous road,” Maytal said via email. “With some more insight into Hyde Street resident, Sister Hood, who debuts in Hyde Street #5. The book focuses on the horrors that sometimes come with an ending friendship. There aren’t many books that focus primarily on the changing dynamic of two friends, but Sisterhood explores this idea and much more.”
Lelia added, “What really excited me at first was the chance to work with Maytal again. When I read the script, I was so moved by the story of friendship. I love how Maytal expresses the emotions of her characters and brings them to life, and I have to say, I really loved the ending… but shhh! 😅 Maytal’s writing is truly my fuel for inspiration. As an artist, I feel very lucky to be part of this. As for getting readers hyped, I think Maytal probably said it better than I ever could.”
