After Resident Evil 4 Remake reached 10 million sales in a record-breaking time span, Capcom released a brand-new video to thank fans for their support. And, along with it, they dropped a possible Easter Egg for the highly anticipated Resident Evil 9.
Capcom’s X post states, “Attention all agents, We’ve prepared a special video to express our gratitude to all of you, which we hope you’ll enjoy (with sound ON)! RE4 Dev Team”. Below is the video that excited many fans who have been thirsty for any new information regarding Resident Evil 9.
AestheticGamer aka Dusk Golem, was among the first wave of eagle-eyed Resident Evil fans to notice a subtle detail. A signpost in the video shows three wooden planks. At first glance, it seems like it’s nothing out of the ordinary for the game. However, upon closer inspection, the three pieces of wood, if rotated, reads “IX”, possibly paying homage to the upcoming installment. To further support the theory, the image did not appear at this specific location in the game.
Dusk Golem elaborated on his observations, “Yup, a few have been spotting it. And for the record, I do think its a intentional tongue-in-cheek edit by Capcom for the upcoming RE9 announcement. Outside of the text, the sign in the original game doesn’t have the “_” wood piece to make it look like IX”. Another fan, @Saadellahmouad, joined in on the conversation, responding to Dusk Golem’s post with a zoomed-in image of the sign.

Capcom has not officially released any updates since the game’s announcement in 2024. However, this new revelation brings fans hope that more information regarding Resident Evil 9 will be revealed in the near future.
