‘Resident Alien’ — Sara Tomko and Alan Tudyk discuss the “gross” seductive dance from the season 4 premiere

A familiar name choreographed Harry’s seductive scene in the Resident Alien season 4 premiere.

There is now more than one resident alien in the town of Patience. We learned in the season three finale that a shape shifting mantid replaced Harry and traveled back to Earth following the escape from the Greys.

The mantid has made himself at home and even the people closest to Dr Vanderspeigle can’t tell he is an imposter. In the latest episode, there is a scene where fake Harry is ready to take his platonic relationship with Asta to a more intimate level. He performs an awkward yet sensual dance in order to tempt her. As stated in our review, it’s something you can’t unsee. At an advanced screening, actors Sara Tomko and Alan Tudyk talked more about the hysterical seduction.

First, choreographer Charissa Barton strikes again with another memorable dance routine. Barton, who is also Tudyk’s wife, choreographed the entire sequence for Resident Alien. If you are unfamiliar with Barton’s work, watch the opening credits to Peacemaker to see her magic. She really knows how to grab your attention with comedy.

Tomko shared her perspective of the entire ordeal and is still haunted to this day. “I have nightmares about this. I’ve been saying in interviews the mantid’s getting Michael Douglas Wallstreet,” she said. “It’s really disgusting because you [Tudyk] are so good at it. I’m really proud of you for all of that really slick slimy preparation that you did.”

Tudyk replied, “I’m really sorry too. It was gross.”

New episodes of Resident Alien air Fridays on Syfy and USA.
