Courtesy of Dark Horse Comics, AIPT can share designs and commentary for Captain Henry and the Graveyard of Time. It’s a new four-issue miniseries from Hellboy creator Mike Mignola and writer/artist Bruce Zick (The Mighty Thor, The Atomic Legion).
So what’s Captain Henry and the Graveyard of Time about?
The story begins in 1880s England, where the Whittier family and Edward Grey attempt to rescue a trapped spirit—but their experiment catapults Captain Henry into an uncharted realm where time, monsters, and madness collide. Expect haunted polar bears, ghost realms, and appearances from familiar Hellboy faces, including Hellboy himself.

Bruce Zick on crafting the cover for Captain Henry and the Graveyard of Time #1
cover 1-a–At first, we were considering the idea that cover one would reflect elements from all four books. We later decided that the cover would reflect only book 1 content.
cover 1-b–This version had a movie poster feel to it, but wasn’t clicking. Also, we didn’t want to give away the surprise of the clock monster on the cover.
cover 1-c–It was then decided to keep it all simple and just have Captain Henry immersed in the Graveyard world.
cover 1-d This layout felt too jumbled to me and the eye wasn’t led around in a pleasing composition.
cover 1-e–I liked the idea that the clock towers closed in on the Captain, entrapping him. The lower elements now lead the eye into the center and up to our hero. Everything now seemed to work.
cover 1-f–The First stage of the inks was okay, but it needed dozens of tweaks and improvements. The Captain’s proportions were off a bit and needed to be corrected.
The 32-page Captain Henry and the Graveyard of Time #1 is due out on Oct 22, 2025 from Dark Horse. Follow Dark Horse Comics on social media for more news, announcements, and updates.
