IDW’s ‘Event Horizon’ comic is pure space horror—and we’ve got the chilling first look

The unbelievable story of the final fate of the original Event Horizon crew.

Courtesy of IDW, AIPT can share a first look at interior colored pages from Event Horizon: Dark Descent #1. The first issue launches into comic shops on August 20th, and it’s a fantastic start to the series. Written by Christian Ward (writer of Batman: City of Madness), with art by Tristan Jones (Aliens: Defiance), and colors by Pip Martin.

Martin brings “a lot of darkness on the ship, but sickly greens and odd teals help create a sense of unease.” AIPT also has an exclusive quote from Martin.

“Firstly, I love horror! So for me, this is such an exciting series to be a part of,” Martin said. “It’s an absolute joy to explore the blood, for,e and hellish space scape through colour. On top of that, it’s an honour to be joining Christian & Tristan as one incredibly talented team. I can’t wait for people to see it!”

So what’s Event Horizon: Dark Descent about?

Taking place before the events of the film and completely accessible to new readers, this is the unbelievable story of the final fate of the original Event Horizon crew. What really happened to Captain Kilpack and the first crew as their ship journeyed across a nightmarish realm of torments beyond imagining? Abandon all hope as demonic forces – led by Paimon, the eyeless King of Hell – unleash agony and pure evil upon the crew in a gripping story.
