‘The Terminator: Metal’ launches October 2025 with a deadly new ally and a twist

This next chapter in the war against Skynet digs deeper into the Future War than ever before.

After a year of redefining The Terminator mythos at Dynamite, writer Declan Shalvey returns this October with a bold new series: The Terminator: Metal. This next chapter in the war against Skynet digs deeper into the Future War than ever before, introducing new models, resistance fighters, and gut-wrenching standalone stories of survival.

Shalvey, known for his work on ThunderCats and the recent Terminator comics, is joined by co-writer Rory McConville (Time Before Time, Spawn), reuniting the acclaimed duo for another sci-fi epic. Artist Lorenzo Re also returns, bringing explosive energy to this bleak and battle-scarred world.

“Each issue tells its own story,” says McConville, “exploring both the triumphs and tragedies of those caught in this eternal war—and what it means to hold onto your humanity when the world is gone.”

At the heart of the opening arc is Percy Dalton, a resistance engineer on a high-stakes mission with an unlikely ally: a deactivated Terminator nicknamed Tex. As they navigate No Man’s Land, Percy and Tex face not only physical threats but also existential questions—about trust, identity, and the thin line between man and machine.

Shalvey adds, “We’re keeping the grounded, emotional tone of the previous series, but this time we’re all-in on the Future War. The landscape may change, but the intensity and humanity remain.”

The Terminator: Metal will launch with a slate of striking covers from Shalvey, Sebastian Piriz, and Ivan Tao, with a special contribution by legendary artist Bob Layton, famed for his work on Iron Man.

Brace yourself for a fresh upgrade in the Terminator comic universe, where every story is a battle for survival, and every character has something to lose.
