Get ready for another exciting installment of our Channel Surfing TV picks. Things get scandalous in a small Texas town in The Hunting Wives. A runaway slave sets out on a great adventure in Washington Black. Then, archaeologists are the real rock stars in the world of Digman!

Irresistible Southern Charm

The Hunting Wives is based off of the book of the same name written by Mary Cobb. It follows a young woman named Sophie who makes a big move from the New England area to Texas. In her new home town, she befriends a socialite named Margo and her group of affluent and influential girlfriends that are dubbed the Hunting Wives. The more time Sophie spends with them, the more she is drawn to a life of obsession, seduction, and murder.

The series is created by Rebecca Cutter who executive produces along with Cobb and Erwin Stoff. It stars Malin Ackerman, Brittany Snow, Dermot Mulroney, Evan Jonigkeit, Chrissy Metz, Jaimie Ray Newman, Katie Lowes, and George Ferrier.

Stream the entire first season of The Hunting Wives starting today, July 21, on Netflix. 

A Global Adventure

Washington Black is another adaptation from the book of the same name by Esi Edugan. We meet the titular character when he is an 11-year-old boy working on a Barbados sugar plantation. His brilliant mind separates him from the other slaves, and he soon finds himself on a globe-spanning adventure when he is forced to flee his home after an event on the plantation.

The cast includes Ernest Kingsley Jr., Rupert Graves, Iola Evans, Edward Bluemel, Sharon Duncan Brewster, Eddie Karanja, Tom Ellis, and Sterling K. Brown. The series is executive produced by Selwyn Seyfu Hinds, Kimberly Ann Harrison, Sterling K. Brown, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Wanuri Kahiu, Mo Marable, Rob Seidenglanz, Jeremy Bell, Lindsay Williams, D.J. Goldberg, Jennifer Johnson, and Anthony Hemingway with Hinds and Harrison as showrunners.

The entire first season of Washington Black releases Wednesday, July 23, on Hulu. 

Pursuing History

Rip Digman is a washed up archaeologist trying to rekindle the success of his youth because in his world, Arkies are the biggest celebrities. He and his team of assistant archaeologist Saltine, pilot Swooper, and secretary Agatha set out on more quests to retrieve priceless artifacts.

The new season has an impressive list of guest stars. It includes Fred Armisen, Stephanie Beatriz, Beck Bennett, Flula Borg), Beth Grant, Dennis Haysbert, Mike Hanford, Mark Hamill, Rachel Kaly, Tom Kenny, Nathan Lane, Lauren Lapkus, Tatiana Maslany, Seth Meyers, Kayvan Novak, Claudia O’Doherty, Artemis Pebdani, Anne Ramsay, Amy Sedaris, Rekha Shankar, Jorma Taccone, Carl Tart, Whitmer Thomas, Geraldine Viswanathan, John Waters, Kate Winslet, and Jeffrey Wright.

Season two of Digman! premieres Wednesday July 23, on Comedy Central.
