The Comic-Con Museum, true to its name, features exhibits that any geek worth their salt has to check out. When I went in 2022, the museum had its “Spider-Man: Beyond Amazing” exhibit dedicated to the web-slinger’s 60th anniversary; this year, it took things up a notch with the ‘Doctor Who: Worlds of Wonder’ exhibit, which is dedicated to all things Doctor Who.
In addition to chronicling the outfits of the various incarnations of the Doctor and his/her tools (including the sonic screwdriver), “Doctor Who: Worlds of Wonder” features an entire hall dedicated to the Doctor’s enemies. The Daleks, the Cybermen, the Weeping Angels: all of them are on display, and rather frightening up close. Scattered throughout are replicas of the TARDIS and its inner workings. “Doctor Who: Worlds of Wonder” is also dedicated to the science behind Doctor Who, with various exhibits that explore the advances in science and space travel alongside videos of actual physicists breaking down the possibility of time travel.
The upper and lower levels of the museum had plenty to see too. In the upper levels, there’s an entire exhibit dedicated to masked wrestling in Mexico. Championship belts and masks – including fan-made ones – were on full display, and there was even artwork from Daniel Warren Johnson’s masterpiece Do A Powerbomb! on display. In the lower levels, a collection of Tokidoki toys was on full display, including collaborations with Marvel and Hello Kitty. Finally, there was a dedication to Greg Evans’ classic comic strip, Luann, which turns 40 this year.

Doctor Who wasn’t the only sci-fi franchise represented at the con. The Star Wars: Echoes of the Galaxy auction was given a spotlight; on Sunday, Julien’s Auctions and Turner Classic Movies will auction off props from Star Wars movies, including Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber from Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. It was a chance to see a literal piece of history, and I’m glad I attended. I’d also advise fans to check out the Comic-Con Museum, even if they can’t get into Comic-Con. You’ll get to see actual geek history and they give out free comics!
