This December, Marvel launches a brand-new Doctor Strange ongoing series from writer Derek Landy (Infinity Watch) and artist Ivan Fiorelli (Fantastic Four), with main covers by fantasy art legend Alex Horley.
No longer Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme, Stephen Strange now holds that title for Asgard. Following the events in Al Ewing and Pasqual Ferry’s Thor, Asgard’s link to Midgard has been severed, leaving Strange stranded. Unable to return home, he sets out across the realms with Angela—making her long-awaited comeback—for a sweeping Journey Into Mystery-style quest. Wielding fresh powers and Asgardian magic, Strange will face wonders and dangers alike, from Heven’s royal family to a sinister dark elf sorcerer.
The adventure kicks off with a prelude in next month’s Doctor Strange #450 one-shot, introducing Strange’s mission, his upgraded arsenal, and a new look designed by Geoff Shaw. In the first issue, Strange heads to Alfheim to stop a brewing war between elves and angels over a mysterious coffin, with Angela as his only guide.
Landy promises a story that’s “bigger, crazier, and more mind-bending,” exploring Angelic society and the Nine Realms, while Fiorelli relishes the chance to go all-out with Strange’s magical visuals and create brand-new Marvel characters. Variant covers for issue #1 will come from Luciano Vecchio and Fanyang, with the latter also offering a virgin variant. Preorders are open now at comic shops.
