Our Channel Surfing TV picks include a superhero, a family comedy, and science fiction. Peacemaker returns for an all-new season. Catch the latest from the BoJack Horseman creator entitled Long Story Short. Then, worlds collide for the first time in the third season of Invasion.
Finding Peace
Peacemaker is a show that started in the DCEU and has survived into the DCU. It’s probably because the series creator is also the architect and head of the studio. The titular hero and the rest of the 11th street kids are back for an all new adventure, and this time it is deeply personal.
In the second season, Peacemaker discovers an alternate dimension where life there is everything he has ever imagined. It’s a very tempting world considering how messed up his life is here.
The season two premiere of Peacemaker releases Thursday, August 21, on HBO Max.
Family Dysfunction
Raphael Bob-Waksberg created the critically acclaimed BoJack Horseman. His next project is another animated comedy but this time focusing on family.
Long Story Short is about the Schwooper siblings, two brothers and a sister, from a middle class Jewish family. We follow them from childhood to adults and back again because in this series, each episode takes place at different periods in their lives and not necessarily in chronological order.
Stream the first season of Long Story Short beginning Friday, August 22, on Netflix.
United We Stand
In Invasion, the Earth is visited by an alien species that threatens to take over. The story takes place all over the world and follows regular people as they experience and process the events as they unfold.
The third season has the ultimate apex aliens emerge from hiding and spreading their influence across the planet. All the varying view points come together as the different characters work together for the first time to face this other worldly threat. Can they protect the human race?
Watch the season three premiere of Invasion beginning Friday, August 22, on Apple TV+.
