This October, the X-Men are thrown into a dark new future with Age of Revelation, an event that jumps the Marvel Universe 10 years ahead. In this world, Doug Ramsey, Apocalypse’s heir, rules over a mutant utopia while the rest of Earth reels from the devastating X-Virus. Expect shocking twists, unlikely alliances, and a bold reshaping of Marvel’s mutant line as brand-new series spin out of this dystopian future.
The saga kicks off with X-Men: Age of Revelation Overture #1 from Jed MacKay and Ryan Stegman, then branches into 16 interconnected three-issue miniseries and a special anthology. All of these threads wrap in December before X-Men: Age of Revelation Finale #1 brings the explosive conclusion—and sets the stage for massive changes to today’s X-Men stories.
As Executive Editor Tom Brevoort explained in X-Men Monday, this isn’t a throwaway “what if” future: “These are all legitimate futures. This isn’t a what-if world. These things exist, as far as even the present-day characters are concerned.” He teased that January and beyond will bring new solo titles, returning favorites, and fresh spotlights on sidelined characters.
Look for the final chapters of Age of Revelation this December, with the future of the X-Men set to shift dramatically come January.
