Dark Horse Comics and CD PROJEKT RED are teaming up once again to expand the world of The Witcher with a new four-issue miniseries, The Witcher: Blood Stone. The series is penned by Daniel Freedman (Birdking, Kali) with art from Pius Bak (Slightly Exaggerated, Godfather of Hell), colors by Roman Titov (Cyberpunk 2077: Big City Dreams, What’s the Furthest Place from Here?), and lettering by Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou (Kill All Immortals, The Witcher: The Bear and the Butterfly). Bak provides the main covers, while issue #1 will also feature variants by Gigi Cavenago (The Magic Order, Dylan Dog), Axel Sauerwald, and Patrycja Podkościelny.
In Blood Stone, Geralt is drawn to a region where ancient dwarven mines lure fortune seekers—but the locals whisper of a horned beast slaughtering those who enter. Despite a lack of evidence, Geralt begins his investigation, knowing the mountains themselves are treacherous and the mines even more so. What lies buried within the labyrinthine tunnels, he soon discovers, is something that should never be unearthed.
“I am thrilled to leave my mark on the legendary long-running fantasy The Witcher,” said Freedman. “Geralt and I share a lot of the same sensibilities and getting to weave a blood soaked tale about the true monster of man is always an opportunity I relish.”
Marcin Zwierzchowski, Editor/Writer for Franchise Creative at CD PROJEKT RED, added: “Daniel Freedman has written one of the best dark fantasy comic books ever, Birdking. So inviting him to tell his own story in the world of The Witcher felt like a perfect match. Together with Pius Bak and Roman Titov they formed a dream team that crafted a wonderful story about greed and wounds that do not heal.”
The Witcher: Blood Stone #1 (of 4) hits comic shops on January 28, 2026, priced at $4.99.
