Comixology Originals and AIPT are exclusively revealing The Adequates, a brand-new five-issue YA miniseries launching digitally on March 3, 2026. Written and colored by Eisner Award-winner Lee Loughridge (MidState) with art by Marz Jr (Transformers: Worst Bot Ever), the series introduces readers to a group of teenage misfits who accidentally gain powers that are more… adequate than super.
Set at Savannah High, the story follows five freshmen — Julie, Chad, Randy, Panama, and Grey — who wind up with strange abilities after a haunted field trip to Bonaventure cemetery. As they come to terms with their newfound powers, they discover that their school’s favorite history teacher has been possessed by a demon. On Halloween night, The Adequates must join forces with The Goths to stop the evil threat and save their school.
“The Adequates is over 20 years in the making,” says Loughridge. “It’s gone through many versions, but with Marz Jr, it’s become the story I always wanted to tell — one that kids today would pick up and immediately connect with.”
Marz Jr adds: “I love stories about awkward teens saving the world, and this one has it all — friendship, humor, demons, and powers that aren’t quite what you’d expect.”
The Adequates debuts March 3, 2026, exclusively on Comixology Originals, with new issues releasing monthly. Loughridge’s earlier series MidState is also available now digitally, with a print release coming December 9, 2025, from Mad Cave.
Loughridge will also be on a panel and signing posters featuring the cover at New York Comic Con this year. Check out the details on that below!
