New York Comic Con is popping off today with plenty of reveals, and the Spider-Man and Venom panel brought more of the same! Scroll down below to check out the official cover art and story details!
Marvel’s Spider-Man panel at NYCC was as chaotic and lively as the comics themselves, with editors and creators shouting, singing, and fielding fan questions long after the official end time. Nick Lowe, dressed in a “very ‘90s Spider-Man tracksuit situation,” introduced himself like a Yankees announcer and even stripped off a jacket to reveal yet another Spider-Man jacket beneath. At one point, someone in the crowd began singing the classic animated theme song, adding to the carnival-like energy.
On the comics front, the big news is the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man/Venom crossover “Death Spiral”, a nine-part story kicking off in February 2026 with a one-shot by Joe Kelly and Al Ewing. “This is a book about a bizarre family,” Kelly explained, while Charles Soule noted that “Spidey, Venom, Mary Jane, and Carnage… they’re all interconnected, they all have gigantic amounts of history together… there’s a lot of emotional energy that we can smash together, break apart.” Soule also teased Eddie Brock: Carnage, calling it an “addiction metaphor,” as Eddie and Carnage roam America killing serial killers. Meanwhile, Al Ewing announced Queen in Black for summer 2026, featuring Hela and Knull: “When you get to cosmic forces, on the level of Knull and Hela, there’s going to be stuff caught in the crossover — for instance, the entire planet Earth.”
Fans also learned that Gwen’s band will be officially named Threadbare after an audience vote, with Silk joining as a bassist and a new lead singer teased for issues #5–6. Stephanie Phillips revealed Gwen will fight a villain who “feeds on anger” and that “her suit has now turned into her greatest foe.” Elsewhere, ASM will introduce a new symbiote named Symbi, Norman Osborn will face Hobgoblin and a goblin-slaying army, and yes — as Al Ewing confirmed to a fan — “a symbiote can transform itself into a guitar.”
So, what can we expect from Spider-Man in 2026?
Marvel’s Spider-line is racing into 2026 with major shakeups across Amazing Spider-Man, Venom, Ghost-Spider, and more, all feeding into February’s crossover Death Spiral (more info here). Issues of ASM #14–18, Ghost-Spider #3–4, Venom #251–253, Knull #1, and Eddie Brock: Carnage #10 lay the groundwork: Hellgate emerges as Spidey’s deadliest foe, Norman Osborn’s sins resurface through Hobgoblin and his goblin-slaying army, Gwen faces danger even on the Battle of the Bands stage, and Eddie Brock contends with Carnage’s chaos while Madame Masque targets Venom with AIM’s full power.
In January 2026, the stakes climb higher: ASM #19 pits Spider-Man against Hellgate in a brutal rematch, while ASM #20 unleashes the “Night of the Goblin (Slayers).” Gwen’s band fight turns violent in Ghost-Spider #6, and Venom #253 sees Masque close in on Eddie and Dylan. Meanwhile, ASM Annual #1 introduces new speedster Rapid, who learns the ropes alongside Spidey until Screwball’s livestreamed destruction turns training deadly. All of these threads converge in Amazing Spider-Man: Death Spiral — a massive Spider-Man/Venom event from Joe Kelly and Al Ewing that promises to tie the fates of Peter Parker, Gwen Stacy, Eddie Brock, and Norman Osborn into one spiraling collision.
