Revealed at NYCC 2025, Marvel’s next X-Men era, “Shadows of Tomorrow,” kicks off in January 2026 with a wave of new and returning titles that expand the mutant line in wildly different directions.
In attendance was Tom Brevoort, C.B. Cebulski, Eve L. Ewing, Jed MacKay, Ryan Stegman, and Benjamin Percy, who revealed sweeping new details about the mutant line’s post-Age of Revelation era. The event, which featured multiple surprise announcements, showcased Marvel’s commitment to expanding the mutant mythos while embracing inclusivity, bold storytelling, and a touch of chaos befitting Krakoa’s legacy.
“In the Shadows of Tomorrow” Begins
Titles announced in the new era “Shadows of Tomorrow,” include Inglorious X-Force by Tim Seeley and Michael Sta. Maria, Magik & Colossus by Ashley Allen and Germán Peralta, Rogue by Erica Schultz and Luigi Zagari, Wade Wilson: Deadpool by Benjamin Percy and Geoff Shaw, Cyclops by Alex Paknadel and Roge Antonio, Generation X-23 by Jody Houser and Jacopo Camagni, and Storm: Earth’s Mightiest Mutant by Murewa Ayodele and Federica Mancin. Tom Brevoort described this phase as the “tip of the iceberg,” promising that “survival demands unity” for mutants in the aftermath of Age of Revelation.
Jed MacKay confirmed that Age of Revelation: Finale #1 will bring the event to a brutal close, with Ryan Stegman’s designs highlighting the fractured mutant territories and a “benevolent dictatorship” led by Doug Ramsey. Ewing’s upcoming Expatriate X-Men follows Colossus and company patrolling a divided America—“the DMZ along the Mississippi River”—in what Brevoort teased will be a grittier, swear-filled mutant drama.
New Series, Familiar Faces, and Big Promises
Ashley Allen confirmed that Magik & Colossus will deal directly with the fallout of Colossus’s actions in X-Force, while Rogue explores hidden chapters of her past with the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. Brevoort also teased that Rogue and Gambit’s marriage is safe—for now. “They’ll stay together,” he assured, “but we won’t necessarily make it easy for them.”
Benjamin Percy previewed his new Deadpool ongoing as “dark, dangerous, and deadly,” describing it as “not necessarily a pure comedy book.” Elsewhere, Wolverine #14 reintroduces Silver Sable as a recurring love interest, and Uncanny X-Men #22 by Gail Simone and Dave Marquez revives Mutina, the “daughter of darkness,” in what Simone calls a “bloody, cake-filled nightmare.”
What’s Next
As the panel closed, Brevoort and Ewing hinted at future stories involving Emma Frost’s mysterious role in the Shadows of Tomorrow teaser and leadership changes among the young mutants of Exceptional X-Men. “There are new things coming,” Ewing said. “All the folks that you’ve known and loved… you’ll see new stuff coming around.”
With official art debuting at the panel and a crowd buzzing from start to finish, Marvel’s mutant future looks vast, daring, and defiantly alive. As Ewing summed it up: “We’re just getting started—and we’re not afraid to get a little weird.”

The line continues into February with new blood and bold reinventions. Magik & Colossus reexamines the fraught bond between siblings forged in Limbo, Wade Wilson: Deadpool finds the merc with a mouth haunted by an unforgivable sin, and Generation X-23 launches Jody Houser’s next-gen assassin saga. Cyclops by Alex Paknadel puts the team’s field leader in the spotlight, while Murewa Ayodele and Federica Mancin’s Storm: Earth’s Mightiest Mutant sends Ororo Munroe into a world-spanning odyssey that moves from quiet introspection to cosmic war—and a funeral that may change her forever. Together, these series set the tone for Marvel’s post-Revelation X-Men universe: darker, stranger, and more interconnected than ever before.
