Marvel’s boldest reinvention in years is racing toward its finale. The Ultimate Universe—which reimagined Marvel’s heroes and villains for a new generation—will officially conclude this December with Ultimate Endgame, a five-issue event from writer Deniz Camp (Ultimates) and artists Jonas Scharf and Terry Dodson.
Launching December 31, Ultimate Endgame unites the line’s key players for an epic showdown with the mastermind behind it all: The Maker. After reshaping the world for his own ends, the villain’s long-awaited reckoning has arrived—and the fate of this universe hangs in the balance.
To mark the occasion, Marvel is debuting its first-ever True Believers Blind Bags, special sealed editions of Ultimate Endgame #1 that each include one of several variant covers. Among them are ultra-rare exclusives, including one-of-a-kind hand-drawn sketch covers.
The story picks up two years after the events of Ultimate Invasion, where Jonathan Hickman and Bryan Hitch first unleashed The Maker’s twisted new world. But inside the City, where time flows differently, The Maker has had millennia to plan his return. Now that the City’s barrier has fallen, the heroes of this universe must rally to stop him—before his war ignites a full-scale World War III.
This finale won’t just close the book on the Ultimate line—it’ll also ripple into Marvel’s main continuity. In Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion #5, Miles Morales returns to Earth-616 carrying several “Origin Boxes,” the devices The Maker once used to rewrite heroism itself, hinting that the Ultimate Universe’s legacy will continue to echo throughout 2026.
“Ultimate Endgame is the culmination of everything Jon [Hickman] began in Ultimate Invasion,” Camp told ComicBook. “We’re packing every page with the beautiful, the tragic, the funny, and the devastatingly loud.”
Marvel promises a conclusion worthy of the line’s groundbreaking ambition—a complete saga that began, evolved, and now ends on its own terms. Ultimate Endgame #1 hits comic shops December 31.
