Marvel’s most relentless anti-hero is back. Following the blood-soaked success of Punisher: Red Band #1, writer Benjamin Percy is taking Frank Castle into even darker territory with a brand-new ongoing series, Punisher #1, launching this February. The series, announced by Marvel Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski at Lucca Comics & Games in Italy, features art by José Luis Soares and inks by Oren Junior.
Still haunted by the events of Red Band, Frank’s fractured mind becomes both weapon and weakness as he wages war against crime’s worst. His latest mission brings him face-to-face with a familiar nightmare: Jigsaw, the scarred supervillain who’s just as dangerous—and personal—as ever.
“Punisher: Red Band was a new beginning for Frank Castle—and an unrelenting assault,” Percy said. “Now that readers know we’re not pulling punches, Punisher will build on that while offering a fresh entry point. Frank’s picking up the broken, jagged pieces of himself, and who better to face him than Jigsaw?”
Percy praised Soares’ gritty realism, adding, “You’ll be amazed and disturbed by the grounding detail and brutal action he’s bringing to this story. This is gonna hurt.”
