After a quiet year filled with both creative lulls and behind-the-scenes development, legendary comics writer Grant Morrison is gearing up for a major return — including a brand-new Sebastian O story with original artist Steve Yeowell.
In their latest newsletter, Morrison shared that much of the past year was spent developing a secret television project that’s now “in Hollywood hell,” awaiting a greenlight. “I can’t say a word about it,” Morrison wrote, “but if people knew what the project was, I think they’d be very excited.”
While 2025 was a self-described “write-off” — marked by summer burnout and personal heartbreak — Morrison says inspiration has returned in full force:
“Come September and the lowering of the temperature, the electricity came back on in my brain.”
That creative spark is fueling several new projects. Alongside the Sebastian O revival, Morrison teased two horror stories — The Hangman’s Song and Vaster Than Empires — and confirmed that Worlds Collide, a collaboration with Beats of War director Etienne Kubwabo, is back on track for release at the end of 2026.
Morrison also reflected fondly on their recent Batman/Deadpool crossover, noting that the experience “reignited my dormant passion for writing comics.”

“I thought I’d take a swing at one of those late-career renaissances I hear about!” Morrison added.
Originally published in 1993 under DC’s Vertigo imprint, Sebastian O is a cult-favorite steampunk satire about an aristocratic dandy and anarchist navigating a repressed Victorian society. Morrison and Yeowell’s return to that world marks their first new collaboration on the character in over three decades — and, by all signs, the start of a new creative era for one of comics’ most imaginative voices.
