Mattel has announced that Masters of the Universe is officially becoming an ongoing comic series with a new title: He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, produced in collaboration with Dark Horse Comics. The series will carry forward the storyline introduced in Sword of Flaws, launching its next chapter with a new arc titled The Battle of Snake Mountain.
The creative team remains stacked, with Tim Seeley (Masters of the Universe/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles of Grayskull) writing, Reilly Brown (Masters of the Universe: Phantoms of Despair) on art, Jim Charalampidis (The Amazing Spider-Man) handling colors, and AndWorld Design on lettering. The new arc kicks off with He-Man and the Masters of the Universe #5, featuring cover art by Reilly Brown, joined by Jim Charalampidis and Ciro Neili.
Issue #5 digs deeper into the mythology of Eternia, revisiting the origins of the Power Sword, forged by the legendary sorcerer He-Ro to grant access to the power and wisdom of Grayskull. Fearing that such immense power could corrupt even the greatest champion, He-Ro created a second blade—one meant only as a last resort should a hero turn tyrant. That weapon was ultimately corrupted, stained violet, and became known as the Sword of Flaws. Horrified by what he had unleashed, He-Ro hid the sword away, where it remained lost for years—until now.
Following the battle at Heaven Piercer, the Sword of Flaws has surfaced once more, this time in the hands of Skeletor. Empowered by the blade’s dark magic, Skeletor poses his greatest threat yet, raising the stakes for He-Man and the Heroic Warriors as they race to stop him from claiming ultimate power.
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe #5 arrives in comic shops on March 25, 2026.
