DC K.O. is in full swing now that we’re entering matches, and in Titans #30, it’s Cyborg versus Swamp Thing! It’s the ultimate battle between nature and the peak of technology, and yet it could be anyone’s win. In a best two out of three battle, find out who wants to win more!
Whether you’re rooting for Swamp Thing or Cybrog, one thing is clear: both fanbases win to some extent after reading this issue. Writer John Layman and artist Pete Woods force these heroes to go three rounds, which makes it easy to see that both heroes could go out on top. The big difference-maker is who wants it more and who can go all the way. It’s these elements that make the issue stand tall, even if it’s mostly a fight comic.
The issue opens with Cyborg blasting Swamp Thing and shockingly winning in two or so pages. This leads to how it looks when a new version of yourself is on offer for the second round, allowing Woods to flex his character design and reference muscles. DC has always leaned into the multiverse element, and it shows a strong stable of Cyborgs are out there.
The second match allows for an entirely different version of Swamp Thing that should get fans hyped. There are some creative moves by Swamp Thing to keep you guessing.

In the middle of the issue is a quick cut away to drama between Red Arrow and his daughter, which progresses the plot for characters not in the fight. It’s short, though, and accomplishes little. That said, this thread comes back in the final pages, laying out an impactful and shocking cliffhanger you won’t want to miss.
Closing out the final fight that features an extra-large and supercharged Cyborg that’ll get fans hyped. His powers can go to levels never seen before, clearly, and it’s a nice reminder that he’s often underutilized. Layman and Woods take this battle to epic proportions, and again, it’s how this fight ends that makes it feel more meaningful.
Titans #30 understands exactly what kind of comic it is and leans into it with confidence. John Layman and Pete Woods turn Cyborg vs. Swamp Thing into a showcase of power, creativity, and escalating stakes, using the multiverse to keep each round feeling fresh and unpredictable. While it’s mostly a fight comic, the emotional beats at the end and that sharp cliffhanger give the issue weight beyond the punches. Whether you’re Team Cyborg or Team Swamp Thing, this match proves DC K.O. is hitting its stride.
