Vampirella is entering a bold new “season” this April, as writer Christopher Priest teams with artist Davis Goetten to launch a fresh chapter in the long-running saga—starting with Vampirella #1, a new jumping-on point for both longtime fans and first-time readers.
While Vampirella remains at the center of the series, the spotlight also turns to her sister Draculina, whose life has unraveled in devastating ways. Stripped of her Vampiri powers—and having lost the child she once took from Vampirella—Draculina now finds herself trapped in fragile humanity. When her bloodlust unexpectedly resurfaces, she’s forced to confront the possibility that the monstrous urges she fought for centuries may never truly be gone. Her search for answers becomes a desperate bid to break free from her past… or perish in the attempt. And looming over it all is Vampirella herself, whose role in these events remains anything but simple.
Priest continues his critically acclaimed, character-driven approach to the franchise, cementing his status as the longest-running continuous writer on Vampirella, with more than 90 issues since 2019. The series is also barreling toward a historic milestone: issue #700. With legacy numbering intact, this new Vampirella #1 also counts as issue #688, putting the landmark anniversary just a year away. Publisher Dynamite is already gearing up to celebrate the character’s more than five decades of history alongside fans old and new.
The debut issue arrives with a stacked lineup of variant covers by Lucio Parrillo, Derrick Chew, Joseph Michael Linsner, and Elias Chatzoudis, plus a cosplay cover featuring model Rachel Hollon. Collectors can also hunt down premium mystery blind bags, each containing three randomly selected limited-edition variants exclusive to the release.
