This summer, Queen in Black, a five-issue event series from writer Al Ewing and artist Iban Coello, erupts across the Marvel Universe.
Spinning out of Ewing’s acclaimed Venom run and the recently launched Knull limited series, the story finds Hela claiming Knull’s throne and forcing the God of the Void to seek terrifying new power. Their rivalry explodes across space before crashing onto Earth, where Marvel’s heroes are trapped between two ancient forces determined to smother reality in their own vision of oblivion. The core series centers on Spider-Man, Venom, Mary Jane, Eddie Brock, and Dylan Brock, with additional tie-ins set to explore how the conflict spreads to other corners of the Marvel Universe.
To mark the launch, Queen in Black #1 will arrive in Marvel’s new True Believers Blind Bags. After the strong response to Ultimate Endgame #1 and Daredevil #1, the program returns with a twist. Every Queen in Black #1 blind bag contains an exclusive variant cover unavailable through regular ordering. The standard main cover and open-to-order variants will not appear in these sealed editions, raising the stakes for collectors. Some bags will even include ultra-rare, hand-drawn sketch covers by surprise contributors.
Each blind bag will feature one of the following exclusive variants:
- Design Variant Cover by Ryan Stegman
- Swimsuit Variant Cover by David Nakayama
- Jeff and Knull Variant Cover by Gurihiru
- Alternate Webhead Foil Variant Cover by Pat Gleason
- Variant Cover by Artgerm

The story opens with Knull assembling a new army at the edge of the solar system, intent on Earth’s destruction. Hela of Asgard may have beaten him to it, arriving with a legion of deadly symbiotes. Two cosmic tyrants collide as Venom, Mary Jane, and Dylan Brock are caught in the crossfire.
“The only threat bigger than one evil god is two of them fighting each other, with Earth in the middle,” Ewing said. He described Hela as a classic Marvel villain whose ambitions now place her on equal footing with Knull. Only one can claim victory, and either outcome spells disaster for Earth’s defenders.
Ryan Stegman provides the main cover, with additional open-to-order variants by Iban Coello, Peach Momoko, Chip Zdarsky, and Skottie Young. More reveals and tie-in announcements are expected in the months ahead as Queen in Black builds toward its explosive debut.
