After more than four decades of storytelling, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is gearing up for its landmark 300th issue, and IDW Publishing is planning a celebration worthy of the Heroes in a Half-Shell.
Arriving in comic shops this July, TMNT #300 marks a historic milestone for the franchise. To honor the occasion, IDW is launching a special blind bag program featuring a massive lineup of cover artists. Highlights include multiple versions of a previously unseen cover by co-creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, a striking variant by J. Scott Campbell, and additional surprises still under wraps.
The issue also launches a major new storyline titled “The City That Never Dies,” written by Eisner Award winner Gene Luen Yang and illustrated by Freddie E. Williams II. The arc begins with a shocking development: Splinter has returned from the dead. His resurrection sets the stage for an emotional and high-stakes chapter that promises lasting consequences for the IDW TMNT Universe.
In addition to the main story, the milestone issue features a backup tale from Kevin Eastman and longtime TMNT writer Tom Waltz. Joined by a lineup of classic Turtle artists, the backup celebrates the many eras that have defined the series across generations.

July will also see the release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin – Training Day, an oversized one-shot from the creative team behind the original Last Ronin. The story brings Michelangelo back into focus as he trains Casey Marie Jones, daughter of April O’Neil and Casey Jones, preparing her to continue the fight against the Foot Clan and eventually lead the next generation of Turtles.
“300 issues! Gene Luen Yang and Freddie E. Williams II pulling out all the stops and kicking off an epic new TMNT storyline,” stated Senior Group Editor Jake Thomas. “What more could fans want? Well, how about a double dose of Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz, with a backup story in #300 exploring the legacy of the TMNT line with a murderers row of classic artists and a new one-shot installment of their Last Ronin saga with THE LAST RONIN: TRAINING DAY? This July, it’s never been a better time to be a TMNT fan, and we’re just getting started. 2026 is shaping up to be a banner year for the heroes in a half shell. 300 issues is just the beginning, the next 300 starts here, and I cannot wait to share it with fans.”
Josh Silverman, President of Global Products & Experiences at Paramount, echoed that sentiment, “For more than 40 years, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has been rooted in themes of brotherhood and resilience,” said Josh Silverman, President, Global Products & Experiences, Paramount. ”The Turtles’ stories continue to evolve while staying true to the beloved characters, classic humor, and action‑packed storytelling that have captivated generations of fans and cemented the franchise’s place in pop culture. Comics remain a defining expression of that legacy, allowing new adventures to unfold, expanding the universe, and deepening the stories in ways only this medium can.”
