‘Green Lantern’ #32 review: love and lights

The road to #600 feels brighter than ever.

Hal Jordan’s friendship tour comes to a close and brings him full circle, right back to Carol Ferris. DC has teased this reunion for months, and that cover alone practically screams that a major question will be answered. I’ll spoil one small detail: yes, the proposal gets its resolution in this issue. And no, it doesn’t steal any thunder from the upcoming issue #600. If anything, it cranks the anticipation even higher for what comes next.

Green Lantern #32

DC

Jeremy Adams centers the issue around a romantic date between Hal and Carol, and it feels completely earned. From the start of this run, Adams has carefully rebuilt their relationship brick by brick, and this chapter shows just how far they’ve come. Hal and Carol have carried decades of romantic turbulence since their first appearance together in Showcase #22. They’ve survived love triangles, secret identities, Star Sapphire transformations, cosmic crises, and even death itself. I love that Adams doesn’t ignore that history, instead embracing it. He understands that their relationship works best when it balances intimacy with independence, passion with power.

Of course, Adams doesn’t give us a quiet candlelit dinner and call it a day. He layers in classic comic-book drama that keeps the issue moving and adds tension without undercutting the romance. The Krona subplot continues to simmer, teasing larger cosmic consequences that I fully hope and expect to explode in issue #600. I genuinely feel bad for the unfortunate supervillain who happens to cross paths with Carol at the wrong moment; interrupting this milestone guarantees facing a very angry Star Sapphire. Speaking of which, the new revelations surrounding the Star Sapphire mythos add fascinating wrinkles to the lore. Adams plants seeds here that could dramatically reshape Carol’s future.

Green Lantern #32

DC

Artist Montos shines in this issue. After delivering a grounded crime drama vibe with Barry Allen last month, he pivots seamlessly into romance without losing momentum. He draws Hal and Carol with warmth and chemistry, then shifts effortlessly into high-powered action when emotions flare. Montos captures Carol’s joy, vulnerability, and righteous anger with equal strength. His versatility gives the issue a dynamic rhythm: tender one moment, explosive the next.

Overall, this creative team delivers a will-they-won’t-they chapter that adds to their longstanding relationship while building even more excitement for the anniversary issue ahead. Jeremy Adams deserves major credit for steering the Jordan/Ferris relationship to its healthiest place in years, arguably ever. One final tease: Kyle Rayner fans, you’re going to be very happy. There’s a moment here that absolutely lands. The road to #600 feels brighter than ever.
