There’s a new kid on the block in regards to cooking competitions with America’s Culinary Cup. Then, an author gets caught up with the college life in Rooster.

R.J. Decker is a former convict who uses his skills as a newspaper photographer in his new profession of private investigator. His cases involve all that Florida can offer from the kind of strange to the straight up gonzo. Helping him keep out of trouble are his ex who happens to be a journalist and her cop wife. Also aiding Decker is a mysterious person from his past whose motives are still uncertain. Does she really want to help or is she setting him on a path back to prison?
The series stars Scott Speedman, Jaina Lee Ortiz, Bevin Bru, Kevin Rankin, and Adelaide Clemens. It is inspired by the novel Double Whammy which is written by Carl Hiaasen. Rob Doherty is the showrunner and writer. He also executive produces along with Carl Hiaasen, Carl Beverly, Sarah Timberman, and Paul McGuigan.
The series premiere of R.J. Decker airs Tuesday, March 3, on ABC.

Padma Lakshmi served as the host of Top Chef for many years, but left after the 20th season. After a hiatus, she is ready to return to cooking competitions with the upcoming America’s Culinary Cup.
The best chefs in America compete in the ultimate culinary battleground. They will be tested by the show’s 10 culinary commandments that include meat, vegetables, sauces, dessert, innovation, flavors, sustainability, world cuisine, consistency, culinary science and technology. Chefs Michael Cimarusti and Wylie Dufresne serve as judges alongside Lakshmi.
America’s Culinary Cup premieres Wednesday, March 4, on CBS.
Life Imitating Art
It’s hard to keep track of all the series Bill Lawrence has on TV recently. Shrinking is in the middle of its third season, and the revival of Scrubs just began. You can add Rooster to that growing list.
The series follows an author who visits his daughter who serves as a professor at a university. His daughter is going through a rough patch in life, and he tries helping her overcome her personal problems. While on campus, he gets sucked into the college life and begins to embody one of his literary creations.
Rooster debuts Sunday, March 8, on HBO.
