It looks like fans of the cinematic DC Universe (DCU) will have a lot to look forward to this summer. Not only will Supergirl arrive on June 26, 2026, but HBO Max revealed that the upcoming Lanterns will release this August.
A teaser for Lanterns was revealed earlier today to share the release month. For a series about a group who serve as a sort of space law enforcement group, the story feels awfully grounded. It also has the grizzled old vet with a questionable approach paired with a by the book rookie vibe. The protagonists look to rely more on actual detective skills than solely on their super powered rings. Watch the teaser below followed by the official logline.
The series follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.
The show stars Kyle Chandler, Aaron Pierre, and Kelly Macdonald. The first episode is co-written by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King who also are the co-creators. Mundy serves as showrunner and is an executive producer along with Lindelof, James Gunn, Peter Safran, King, Ron Schmidt, and James Hawes.
Lanterns releases August 2026 on HBO and HBO Max.
