‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III’ #5 review

Whether you’re Team Power Rangers, Team Ninja Turtles, or one of the villains, everyone gets an upgrade.

The conclusion of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III is here, and wow, what a sight. Crossovers are everywhere right now, with Superman/Spider-Man grabbing headlines, but before we get there, two totally awesome teams step up to save not just weekday afternoons… but the WORLD.

MMPR/TMNT III #5 drops us right into the chaos, as a mutated Lord Zedd and a Green Ranger Shredder push both teams to their absolute limits. The Rangers and Turtles find themselves backed into a corner, manipulated and overwhelmed. It’s going to take a true “Hail Mary” to turn the tide, and that’s exactly where Zordon and Master Splinter step in.

Ryan Parrott continues to prove he understands the heart of both franchises. We’ve seen plenty of wild mashups and creative combinations throughout this series and the others, but this time, Parrott gives the spotlight to the mentors and makes them incredibly cool in the process. Usually, Zordon and Splinter are the figures you leave on the shelf while the heroes take center stage. Not here. Parrott builds the story so the emotional and physical toll on the teens becomes impossible to ignore, then raises the stakes by putting the mentors in danger. When the payoff arrives, it lands in a big way. Honestly, as a longtime Power Rangers fan, I never thought I’d be this hyped to see Zordon step into the action.

Artists Vincenzo Federici and Jodi Nishijima keep the visual momentum high, packing the issue with even more creative combinations and deep-cut nods to both franchises. Every page feels like a love letter to fans, inviting you to relive those childhood “what if” battles with action figures. Raul Angulo and Joana Lafuente’s colors tie everything together, delivering a vibrant yet gritty tone that reinforces just how high the stakes have become. The darker edge to the visuals makes this less a fun crossover and more a full-on battle for survival.

In the end, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III #5 delivers a satisfying, action-packed conclusion that celebrates both franchises while giving fans the epic payoff they’ve been waiting for. If this truly is the end of the crossovers as a trilogy, then it’s one to be grateful for, but it’s hard not to hope there’s another round waiting down the line.
