So many video games, so little time! 2026 is already shaping up to be a big year in terms of gaming. With back-to-back releases, here are the video games hitting your stores this week.
Legacy of Kain: Ascendance (3/31)
Platform: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch,Switch 2, PC
Legacy of Kain: Ascendance is the first new game of the Kain series in over two decades. However, Ascendance is a bit different compared to the previous Legacy of Kain games. It is a retro pixel slide scrolling platformer that includes four familiar characters from the series that returning fans might recognize. Ascendance also consists of beautiful hand-drawn anime style cinematics which promises to invoke nostalgia from its original games.
Super Meat Boy 3D (3/31)
Platform: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC
Super Meat Boy 3D is the third mainline entry of the series, but the first 3D platformer. The core gameplay in Super Meat Boy 3D remains the same as the previous titles where you run, jump, and wall side from one point to another through brutally challenging obstacles. The game is meant to give you a hard time and as the previous titles, you get to watch a replay of all your failures after finally succeeding a level. The developers have also introduced new level designs that is meant to keep the players engaged and on their toes the entire time.
Darwin’s Paradox (4/2)
Platform: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, PC
Compared to every other puzzle platforming game, Darwin’s Paradox might be a unique one only because you play as an adorable octopus who just wants to go home. Embark on a grand adventure and help Darwin, using this extraordinary abilities to overcome traps and dangers within a mysterious industrial complex. Through this journey, Darwin also works out and reveals a bigger conspiracy to the players which is described as something that could “seal the fate of humanity.”
