We have some excellent selections for our Channel Surfing TV picks. A villain seeks revenge in Star Wars: Maul — Shadow Lord. The Boys returns for its final season. Then, Big Mistakes is the latest series co-created by Dan Levy.
Rebuilding an Empire
Maul is a fan favorite villain that even though we know his fate, there is still plenty of room to explore the character. He is the main focus in the upcoming animated series Star Wars: Maul — Shadow Lord.
The events take place roughly a year after the Clone Wars. It finds Maul trying to rebuild his criminal enterprises on a planet far from the scrutiny of the Empire. While there, he comes into contact with a disillusioned Jedi Padawan who he hopes to make his next apprentice and who will help him in his quest for revenge.
The two-episode series premiere of Star Wars: Maul — Shadow Lord release today, April 6, on Disney+.
The Quest for Immortality
When we last left The Boys, the President of the United States declared martial law and made Homelander and his super powered allies in charge of enforcement. Things weren’t also looking that well for the titular group with many members captured.
In the fifth and final season, Homelander is searching for something that will grant him immortality. Meanwhile, Butcher has his own plans and is open to unleashing a virus that can kill all supes.
The Boys season five begins Wednesday, April 8, on Prime Video.
Caught Up in a Life of Crime
Big Mistakes is created by Dan Levy and Rachel Sennot, and it was supposed to star both as siblings. However, when I Love L.A. was picked up by HBO, Sennot had to drop out. Luckily, Levy is still on board also serving as the showrunner.
The series follows two siblings who decide to steal jewelry for their dying grandmother. Unfortunately, they stole from the wrong person and soon get caught up in the world of organized crime where they are blackmailed into carrying out dangerous assignments.
Binge the first season of Big Mistakes beginning Thursday, April 9, on Netflix.
