A spotlight on a Marvel legend
Part of the ongoing The Marvel Art Of… line, the new volume celebrates the career of Mike Zeck, one of Marvel’s most influential artists. Zeck first broke out in 1977 on Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu, but his legacy stretches far beyond that, including defining work on Marvel Super-Heroes Secret Wars, where he co-created Spider-Man’s iconic black suit.
He is also synonymous with some of Marvel’s most enduring stories, including Kraven’s Last Hunt, Punisher: Circle of Blood, and standout runs on Captain America and Spectacular Spider-Man. His take on the Punisher in particular has left a lasting mark, shaping how the character has been drawn for decades.

A personal connection
Clover Press publisher Hank Kanalz reflected on Zeck’s impact, recalling meeting the artist at Chicago Comicon in 1986 just after his Punisher work debuted. That early impression carried through a career that eventually brought the two together professionally, making this latest collaboration feel especially meaningful.
