Dark Horse Comics and Tiny Onion are delving further into the Chaos Universe with a new one-shot focused on Adam Frankenstein. Titled The Perfectly Monstrous Life of Adam Frankenstein, the 56-page issue explores the character’s origins and connection to Christopher Chaos. It is written by Tate Brombal, illustrated by Soo Lee, colored by Patricio Delpeche, and lettered by Aditya Bidikar, with a release set for August 2026.
The book revisits Adam’s creation at the hands of Victor Frankenstein, drawing inspiration from Frankenstein while reshaping it within the Chaos Universe. The story centers on Adam’s early life and the path that leads him to become a protector of Monsterkind, offering new insight into a key figure in the series.
The one-shot will feature multiple cover options by David Talaski, Filipe Andrade, and Fernando Blanco. It also includes an eight-page flip-book backup titled “Monsters in Love,” created by Mark Bouchard, Naomi Franq, Héctor Barros, and Aditya Bidikar, with a special cover illustration by Kendra Wells.
Brombal shared that adapting Mary Shelley’s classic has been a meaningful experience, calling the project one of his most personal works. He described the story as emotional and surprising, while still honoring the spirit of the original novel in a new way.
The Perfectly Monstrous Life of Adam Frankenstein arrives in comic shops on August 26, 2026, with preorders now open at a cover price of $7.99. A collected paperback edition will follow on December 15, 2026, combining the one-shot with The Oddly Pedestrian Life of Christopher Chaos issues #7 and #8 for a 184-page volume priced at $24.99.
