DC has announced a new fan-focused initiative called the “DC’s Building Bad Sweepstakes,” giving one lucky winner the chance to help create a brand-new Batman villain.
The contest kicks off April 30, 2026, and runs through May 31, 2026, inviting fans ages 13 and up in the U.S., U.K., and Canada to enter. The big draw is the opportunity to collaborate directly with DC on an original villain who will become part of the official continuity.
The winning character is set to debut in Detective Comics #1113 this fall, with an additional appearance in Batman #14. The character will also crossover into gaming, appearing as a LEGO version in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight through post-launch DLC, alongside a DC GO! webcomic timed for Batman Day on September 19, 2026.
This is the first time DC Comics and Warner Bros. Games have teamed up to give fans a direct hand in shaping a character across both comics and video games.
The grand prize winner will work with DC to help define the villain’s traits, contribute to the name, and see the character brought to life across multiple platforms later this year.
The sweepstakes also serves as a lead-in to the release of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, which launches May 22, 2026.
Fans can enter by filling out the official form online. No purchase is required, and full rules are available through DC.
