‘Top Chef’ season 23 Power Rankings: Week 9

Top Chef throws the ultimate dinner party.

This season of Top Chef is subtitled Carolinas meaning more than one. This week, everyone headed to Greenville, South Carolina to continue the competition. Not only was there a change of scenery, but also the return of the Last Chance Kitchen winner.

The travel time down south caused a little tweak to the challenges. They were both assigned at the same time and took place at the same event. The chefs were tasked with hosting the ultimate dinner party. The quickfire occurred at the pre-dinner cocktail hour where they created appetizers featuring Duke’s Mayonnaise for 12 diners served passed app style.

The elimination challenge was the actual dinner party. It required eight courses: raw, salad, soup, seafood, grain, poultry, red meat, and dessert. There was some strategy involved because the earlier the course, the less time the competitors had to cook. When it came to shopping, they only had 30 minutes and $1200 as a group to cover both the quickfire and elimination. That meant, split evenly, only $150 per person, which could pose a problem for those who had a protein based course.

After another grueling week, here are our Top Chef Power Rankings for Week 9.
