Marvel celebrates Pixar’s 40th anniversary with new homage variant covers

Marvel Comics has announced a new line of Pixar-themed variant covers to mark the animation studio’s 40th anniversary.

Beginning in July, select Marvel titles will feature special homage covers inspired by Pixar’s film history. The initiative continues Marvel’s recent series of Disney-themed variant programs, following previous collections spotlighting Toy Story and Stitch.

The new covers pair Pixar characters and settings with classic Marvel comic book cover concepts, with artists reimagining iconic imagery through the lens of films spanning the studio’s four-decade history.

According to Marvel, the program is designed to celebrate Pixar’s legacy of storytelling, creativity, and innovation. Characters from across the studio’s catalog will be featured, including fan favorites from films such as Toy Story and Coco.

A total of 11 covers are being revealed as part of the announcement, showcasing the crossover between Marvel’s superhero universe and Pixar’s animated worlds. The covers are created by a variety of comic book artists and will appear on Marvel comics released throughout the summer.

The Pixar 40th Anniversary Variant Covers arrive in comic shops starting in July.

• FANTASTIC FOUR #15, an homage of Fantastic Four (1961) #49 featuring characters from A Bug’s Life
• FANTASTIC FOUR #16, an homage of Fantastic Four (1961) #39 featuring characters from Toy Story 5
• INFERNAL HULK #9, an homage of Incredible Hulk (1962) #1 featuring characters from Ratatouille
• IRON MAN #7, an homage of Iron Man (1998) #76 featuring characters from WALL-E
