The world of Exquisite Corpses continues to expand this fall with a new limited series centered on one of the franchise’s most intriguing killers.
Tiny Onion and Image Comics have announced Exquisite Corpses: Fox Mask Killer, a five-issue miniseries from writer Che Grayson (Absolute Catwoman) and artist Adam Gorham (The Infernal Hulk). The series launches in September and will explore the tragic history behind the sword-wielding assassin first spotlighted in Exquisite Corpses Season One.
Grayson and Gorham previously collaborated on Exquisite Corpses #4, which featured a memorable confrontation between Fox Mask Killer and Lady Carolina. The creative team now returns alongside Eisner Award-winning colorist Jordie Bellaire and letterer Becca Carey to delve deeper into the character’s past.
“From the moment James and Michael welcomed me into the world of Exquisite Corpses, I knew It was something special,” said Grayson. “I gravitated instantly to Fox Mask Killer, a character whose design alone provoked a rich backstory and undeniable aura. The biggest treat for me as a writer was the challenge of bringing depth to a character whose face readers would never see…until now. With this new limited series, the mask finally comes off, and I couldn’t be more excited to team up again with my best mate Adam alongside stellar talents Jordie and Becca. This is a dream project for me and I think fans of Fox Mask Killer and the Exquisite Corpses series are going to be very happy with the high stakes and even higher emotions thrill ride we have her on.”
The new series follows one of the most feared contract killers in the Exquisite Corpses universe. Despite her reputation, Fox Mask Killer wants something she has never been able to attain: freedom. To escape her violent past, she must turn to a figure who may be even more dangerous than the assassins she leaves behind.
“I’m thrilled about returning to the blood-thirsty world of Exquisite Corpses,” said Gorham. “The experience on Season One of the series was so fun and unique. My first issue, which brought Che and I together, focused on Fox Mask and Lady Carolina, and in the end it was clear to everyone involved that there was much more to explore with those characters. So here we are! Che and the Onions have cracked a dynamite story filled with brutal action and razor sharp characters, and I have the great pleasure to draw it all.”
The debut issue will feature a lineup of variant covers from Gorham, Annie Wu, Ito, Mike Huddleston, Inhyuk Lee, and Exquisite Corpses co-creator Michael Walsh. Walsh’s variant will arrive polybagged with a collectible trading card tied to Exquisite Corpses: The Game, which recently completed a successful Kickstarter campaign. A special Witchblade crossover variant by Walsh will also be available.
The announcement marks another major step in the growth of the Exquisite Corpses franchise. Since launching in 2025, the series by James Tynion IV, Michael Walsh, and the Corpse Crew has sold more than 700,000 copies, becoming one of the biggest original comic launches in recent years.
Fox Mask Killer joins a growing slate of spinoffs that includes Exquisite Corpses: Rascal Randy by Tyler Boss and Dylan Burnett (read my advance review), arriving in July, and Exquisite Corpses: Lone Gunman by Pornsak Pichetshote and Alberto Ponticelli. An anthology one-shot titled Exquisite Corpses: Book of the Dead is also planned ahead of Season Two, while a feature film adaptation remains in development through Tiny Onion and Lyrical Media.
