DC has announced Batman of Two Worlds #1, a special one-shot arriving exclusively for Batman Day 2026 on September 19, 2026, at participating comic shops worldwide.
The oversized celebration pairs two brand-new Batman stories, bringing together the classic Dark Knight and the Absolute Universe’s version of Gotham’s protector in a single issue.
The lead story comes from Matt Fraction and artist Javi Fernández, with colors by Tomeu Morey and letters by Clayton Cowles. Joining it is an all-new Absolute Batman story by Scott Snyder and artist Nick Derington, with colors by Frank Martin and letters by Tom Napolitano.
“You have two different looks at Batman,” Fraction said. “The moral structures, the ethical structures, the political structures. A chance to put them side by side and see the similarities and differences.”
Snyder said the creative teams approached the project by highlighting what makes each version of Batman unique.
“This is just such a unique moment,” Snyder said. “The mission was to show what’s special about each interpretation. The two stories are both about Batman’s form of justice.”
The issue features a cover by Jorge Jiménez, Nick Dragotta, and Frank Martin, bringing together both interpretations of the Caped Crusader.
Batman of Two Worlds #1 will be available exclusively on Batman Day 2026 for $2.99 at participating local comic shops around the world.
