Marvel unveils new Indiana Jones series, Boba Fett reveals, and more at Lucasfilm Publishing panel

Jason Aaron takes Indiana Jones on a globe-spanning adventure while Marvel also previews new chapters of The Book of Boba Fett and The Fall of Kylo Ren.

Marvel Comics and Lucasfilm Publishing brought plenty of new reveals to San Diego Comic-Con during the Lucasfilm Publishing panel on Friday, including the announcement of a brand-new Indiana Jones limited series alongside fresh details on upcoming Star Wars comics arriving this fall.

The biggest announcement was Indiana Jones and the Sword of Pandemonium, a five-issue limited series launching in December from writer Jason Aaron and artist Aaron Kuder. The series marks the beginning of a new era of Marvel’s Indiana Jones comics and picks up after the events of Raiders of the Lost Ark.

In the new adventure, Indiana Jones is drawn into a worldwide race after several of his greatest enemies seek a mysterious biblical weapon following their defeat. When Marion Ravenwood comes into possession of the artifact, Indy embarks on a globe-trotting quest that pits archaeology against the supernatural once again.

“I’ve wanted to adventure alongside Indiana Jones since I was 8 years old, to climb through ancient crypts and run for my life in exotic locales, to seek the world’s most fabled treasures. Now here I am, feeling the same sort of joy I felt in 2015, when we launched Star Wars #1,” Aaron shared. “This is the Indy of Raiders of the Lost Ark, fresh off his harrowing experience on the island of Geheimhaven. Dark events were set in motion that day, strange new enemies have risen from the shadows, and for Indy and Marion Ravenwood the globe-trotting, punching, whip-cracking, and death-defying escapades, not to mention the archaeology, have just begun.”

“I’m very excited to be on this book with Jason Aaron. Indie has always felt like he should be a staple of a comic book character,” Kuder added.

The debut issue features a main cover by Bryan Hitch, a variant by Alex Ross, and the first installment of a five-part connecting cover by Aaron Kuder.

Marvel also shared new covers and story details for upcoming issues of Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett.

October’s The Book of Boba Fett #3 by Rodney Barnes and Will Sliney finds Boba struggling to maintain order in Mos Espa while reflecting on his time training with the Tusken Raiders. The issue also promises a brutal showdown with Krrsantan.

The following issue, The Book of Boba Fett #4, raises the stakes even further as Fennec Shand’s life hangs in the balance. Boba must race to save his closest ally, with the mysterious Modifier potentially becoming her only hope for survival.

The panel also offered a new look at Star Wars: The Fall of Kylo Ren #3 by Charles Soule and Will Sliney.

The October issue sees Supreme Leader Kylo Ren seize complete control of the Knights of Ren before facing an enemy unlike anything he has encountered. Marvel teased an unstoppable assassin droid tied to a forbidden Dark Side artifact, while Allegiant General Pryde and General Hux also enter the conflict.
