Disney CEO confirms X-Men, Fantastic Four and Deadpool will be joining the MCU

Disney CEO Bob Iger confirms which very key properties will be making the transition over to the MCU as a result of the Disney/Fox business deal.

The $52.4 billion dollar deal between Disney and Fox is in effect, which means some key Marvel Universe entities that we haven’t yet seen under the MCU banner will be reuniting with Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, the Guardians of the Galaxy and more of their studio-segregated peers.

We detailed the 5 characters we’d like to see most in the reassembled MCU and thankfully, Disney CEO Bob Iger, on an early morning call with investors (via Deadline), confirmed a few of them:

We have the opportunity to expand iconic franchises for new generations of fans just as we have done with Marvel and Star Wars.

We’re also looking forward to expanding the Marvel cinematic universe to include X-Men, Fantastic Four and Deadpool.

Iger spoke about new possibilities with the Avatar franchise (including a new joint venture with director James Cameron for Pandora: The World of Avatar an attraction at Orlando’s Disney World), putting more content into live streaming service Hulu, enhancing ESPN as the “world’s greatest sports media brand” as a result of acquiring Fox’s global sports platform and also keeping the Merc with a Mouth’s ribald sense of humor intact:

Disney CEO confirms X-Men, Fantastic Four and Deadpool will be joining the MCU

[Deadpool] clearly has been and will be Marvel branded. But we think there might be an opportunity for a Marvel-R brand for something like Deadpool… As long as we let the audiences know what’s coming, we think we can manage that fine.”

Which property are you most looking forward to seeing under the new Disney/Fox business deal? Sound off in the comments.
