Luke Skywalker wasn’t originally supposed to be the last Jedi

Who would have been the real last Jedi?

According to Mark Hamill, everything we know from the latest Star Wars film is a lie! Well, more or less. Talking to IGN, Hamill revealed George Lucas had a plan all the way through episode 9. As he puts it:

“I happen to know that George didn’t kill Luke until the end of [Episode] 9, after he trained Leia. Which is another thread that was never played upon [in The Last Jedi]

It’s not known if George Lucas ever wrote any of this down, but a general idea of where the story would go is a likely detail. After Revenge of the Sith Lucas made it clear there will never be 9 episodes, of course Disney could not be denied.

Back in 2004 Lucas said,

It might be fun to come back when everyone’s 80 and do another one of these.

Little did he know at the time Mark Hamill would be playing Luke Skywalker twice (at least) and Carrie Fisher would come back too. What say you, would you have liked to see Leia wield a lightsaber? Let us know in the comments.
