NEON Takes U.S. Rights to Cronenberg’s Sci-Fi Thriller ‘Possessor’

NEON makes another big acquisition.

This year’s Sundance Film Festival was home to some amazing movies. The event included intriguing documentaries, genre defying Netflix originals, and some powerful performances. The famous fest also saw some of the scariest movies of the year debut. One of the most memorable was Brandon Cronenberg’s Possessor.

Possessor follows corporate agent Tasya Vos (Andrea Riseborough) who works for a secretive organization that uses brain-implant technology to inhabit other people’s bodies – ultimately driving them to commit assassinations for high-paying clients. But with each contract Vos seems to losing a part of herself.

After the world premiere of his second full length feature at Sundance, Cronenberg spoke with AIPT. The interview can be found here.

This is not the first time NEON has acquired a festival favorite this week. On Wednesday, the young distribution company obtained the worldwide rights to She Dies Tomorrow. The movie was set to have its premiere at the cancelled SXSW festival.
