San Diego Comic-Con announces dates for free #ComicConAtHome

Comic-Con may be a little different, but it’s still happening–and it’s FREE

Earlier this week, Steve Weintraub at Collider reported that Comic-Con will be holding its virtual #ComicConAtHome event from July 22-26.

These are the same dates that the original San Diego Comic-Con was supposed to take place before the event was canceled for the first time in its 50-year history due to the coronavirus pandemic. Now, however, the event will take place online. While that certainly doesn’t replace the experience of attending in person, it does mean that everyone will have an opportunity to attend whatever panels they want to–and best of all, it’s free!

While I feel terrible for the people who weren’t able to go this year, I have to admit being all types of excited to watch the panels live instead of waiting for a transcript or grainy cell phone recording.

Event details have yet to be released, but a Comic-Con spokesperson did tell Weintraub that there are plans for an online exhibit hall featuring promotional and limited edition items for sale. They will also be offering free printable badges to everyone, which honestly seems like the type of thing I’ll be somewhat excited for, but completely forget to do. Still, it’s a nice touch.

Keep an eye on the official Comic-Con website along with their Twitter and Facebook page (and AIPT of course) for more updates as we get closer to the event.
